Rachael Dempsey will keep the CRWDP ON Cluster members posted. CRWDP Events I. The next Roundtable on Inclusion will be held on April 17th, 2018. It is organized by CRWDP NL Cluster members in SafetyNet, in collaboration with COD-NL, Empower, and the NL Federation of Labour. The Roundtable speakers include Kathy Hawkins (InclusionNL), Maureen Haan (CCRW), Chelsey McNeil (Choices for Youth), Emily Christy (Coalition of Persons with Disabilities NL), Mary Reid (Disability Policy Office, Government of NL), Noreen Golfman and Nicole Helwig (Memorial University), as well as CRWDP past and present students and new researchers Aleksandra Stefanovic, Dana Howse and Amy Sheppard. Bancroft Institute will host its 2018 symposium on health care issues facing Ontario’s injured workers. The event will be held in Toronto on April 25-26 at Friends House (60 Lowther St). We would like to introduce the new CRWDP Student/New Researcher Activities Coordinator Pam Lahey. Pam is working on updating new researcher (student and post-doc) profiles, providing them more visibility on the website, creating a national directory, hosting webinars to profile new research, and developing a mentor/student program. If you have additional ideas to enhance student engagement, please contact Pam directly at laheypm@mcmaster.ca. She will be reaching out to students personally over the next few weeks. CRWDP postdoctoral fellow Cameron Crawford is working on developing a measure of “decent work”, using the conceptual framework that guided the International Labour Organization in its articulation of indicators of decent work in its 2012 publication entitled Decent work indicators. Managing Depression in the Workplace Guide New from IWH is the Evidence-informed guide to supporting people with depression in the workplace. The guide draws upon the best research evidence and integrates it with practitioner expertise and stakeholder values and preferences. It is designed to be used by workers with depression, co-workers, managers, human resources professionals, worker representatives and others in the workplace who support workers with depression while working or returning to work. The Aspiring Workforce study The article “Improving Workplaces to Enable People Living with Mental Illness to Stay in their Jobs” was published in the Spring/Summer issue of OOHNA Journal. It is authored by Margaret Oldfield, Rebecca Gewurtz, Emile Tompa, Karen Harlos, Bonnie Kirsh, Rosemary Lysaght, Arlene MacDougall, Sandra Moll, Sergio Rueda, and Hélène Sultan-Taïeb.
