Job opportunity for a researcher in the field of work disability

The School of Rehabilitation Sciences of the Université de Sherbrooke and the Charles LeMoyne Hospital Research Centre are recruiting a professor with a research profile. The selected applicant will be integrated into the group at the Centre de Prévention et de Réadaptation de l’Incapacité au Travail (CAPRIT).
The new recruit should bring research expertise in the field of work disability, with a major focus on work organizations’ perspective of this complex health problem. The candidate has a research focus in the interface between workers at high risk of sick leave and work organizations, within the work disability and occupational rehabilitation context.
The candidate should have a PhD or post-doctoral training in the work disability field, with a major focus on work organizations’ perspective OR characteristics and challenges of aging workers.
The ideal candidate should have a solid background in research methods, but also demonstrated relational and political skills in promoting the uptake of research findings emerging from the health field, in work organizations. The candidate should also demonstrate very strong participatory-type teaching skills, and be willing to teach in the master’s and doctoral programs of the School of Rehabilitation and in the continuing education program offered to practicing professionals, given that academic outreach and commitment is part of CAPRIT’s mission.
As teamwork and interdisciplinarity are common practice at CAPRIT, the ideal candidate should be able to prove his or her ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team. This means showing an ability to simplify content for various types of audiences ranging from researchers to health professionals or union representatives. The person should also be interested in participating in broader research projects, such as developing a tool for measuring intersectoral collaboration, improving health-related practices and implementing health-related evidence-based data in work organizations.
Projects on tools, interventions and organizations that deliver services to various sick-leave clienteles are already being carried out by the team researchers. The candidate should complement the current expertise in place with knowledge of the health/workplace interface. He or she will be expected to develop a research program that integrates synergistically with the research currently under way at the research center and CAPRIT. The candidate will help maintain the expertise already developed at CAPRIT and continue
to support CAPRIT’s leadership role in work disability prevention. This person should also complement the current researchers’ expertise by adding knowledge of work organizations, which are one of the systems involved in work disability that remains unexplored to date.
