You are invited to attend CRWDP Webinar #13, taking place on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 12:00 PM EST.

This webinar will be presented by Ololade Adedoyin Animashaun. Ololade will present her research on Employment Experiences of Persons with Disabilities around St. John's: Their Conditions and Implications.  

Presentation Description: Persons with disabilities are still underrepresented in the workforce today. Recent and past studies have shown that PWDs have consistently experienced barriers in the educational, economic and social spheres, especially those with severe disabilities or low educational attainment. Hence, this study focused on investigating the employment experiences of persons with disabilities in urban/suburban Newfoundland, how their location affects their access to social support systems and job opportunities, the barriers to employment opportunities and career advancement that they face, and how their work/life conditions can be improved to help foster their recruitment, productivity, retention and career advancement in the workforce.

Presenter Bio: Ololade Adedoyin Animashaun has a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria; A Diploma in Computer Technology from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Nigeria, and a Post Graduate Degree in International Business Management from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology, Toronto, Ontario. While at Seneca College, Ololade studied Human Resources Management and had the opportunity to work on some research projects on Diversity Management / Inclusion in the workplace and Worksite wellness programs focused on Person with Disabilities (PWDs). This greatly spurred her interest to further conduct research on PWDs as she believes there is still a lot of room for improvement in terms of proper accommodation in the workforce today.
