Initiative Summary:

The Federal Task Force on Disability Issues (also called the Scott Task Force) was jointly commissioned by four federal ministers with policy responsibilities pertaining to disability issues: the Minister of Human Resources Development Canada, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Justice and the Minister of National Revenue.

The Task Force was created to examine the role of the federal government in the area of disability. After holding a series of public consultations across the country, the Task Force produced a number of recommendations pertaining to legislative reform, labour market integration, Aboriginal people with disabilities, and disability income supports—including program coordination. These recommendations are captured in the Task Force’s final report, Equal Citizenship for Canadians with Disabilities: The Will to Act.
